34m
Sven Rothenberger joins J.J. Tate and talented gelding, Denali. The pair are schooling Prix St Georges movements. Denali is swinging out behind in his volte. They work on keeping the hind legs in the track of the front legs, having more flexion and controlling the haunches. Working at the canter on travers and volte, Denali needs more flexibility and suppling. Sven advises J.J. to build up slowly on the Training Scale and have a plan. Transitions make the horse stronger and ensure his hind leg comes under and that he reacts to aids. Sven advises that a good passage needs activity and to not ride backward with the hand. Engagement behind creates lightness in front, he says.
