25m
Sven Rothenberger shares his expertise with J.J. Tate riding the Oldenburg gelding Romeo. He advises J.J to be more conscious of riding Romeo over the back to compensate for his conformation. She also needs to maintain control with the outside rein through the outside leg in canter. Sven also has her keep the canter engaged and jumping through during shoulder-in and half pass. He asks her to give the reins to check for self-carriage, holding the horse in front of the leg. Other suggestions include: Do less with the contact in one time changes to stop Romeo from leaning back and develop the quality of his changes. Focus on rhythm, straightness, and activity in the piaffe.
