Steffen encourages the rider to get the horse more responsive and forward from the leg before doing the single changes again. When they take a walk break he still asks that the mare is attentive and relaxed. In the trot work he has them go from half pass to leg yield and change the bend. They continue to check for a prompt response from the leg.
