Janet starts out this session on Third level with the demo riders warming up in the trot and explains that suppleness will solve a lot of their problems. They perform the trot half pass from centerline, and Janet explains some of the common problems that happen in this movement. To help get the ribcage off the inside leg in the turn she has them ride a few steps of shoulder in, and makes sure that the horse is waiting for the rider aids to do the half pass. She next has one rider demonstrate riding half pass to shoulder in to half pass to show that the horse is responsive to her leg aids. Janet offers exercises that will help whether the horse is dull to the inside or outside leg.
