Part 4: Ian Stark takes to the saddle of a talented mare who has been very against the hand in his lesson. He jumps her around with a focus on less leg and encouraging a light contact, and recommends her rider mix up how she is being jumped, incorporating corners and turns to surprise her and keep her softer. Ian has one rider remove her spurs, and challenges another to raise their stirrups. He explains how altering stirrup lengths and even jumping without, can help riders improve their balance and keep them from bracing over a fence. Ian works with a rider, who throws her weight back when her horse rushes, to use a more gentle and effective correction.
