Part 1: Christopher introduces the session and makes a note on a martingale that has been tightened from the previous day. The riders warm up at the canter, coming past the camera and auditors to show their position, stirrup length and how they handle their reins, while Christopher gives feedback. He suggests the riders bridge the reins, and talks about how bridge reins can be used to communicate with the horse, without breaking his rule and applying pressure to both sides of the mouth at the same time. The riders warm up over fences, Christopher points out that many of them need to work on maintaining tempo through turns, and supporting the neck with the outside rein.
