USDF Sport Horse Development Forum - Relax the Topline | Scott Hassler | PART 03
13m
As the horse gets a walk break, Scott reviews that they need to work him through for short periods of time. They need to work on him being more relaxed in his back and through in his topline. By doing transitions within the canter they teach him the change his balance and carry more. He next asks for a sMoller circle with quality at the canter, and a down transition to the trot in balance. The gradual stretching down in the trot is his reward, and they have to ride each step of the transition from the stretch to the working trot, Scott summarizes the ride, and talks about when stretching will be the most useful in the ride. He finishes with questions from the auditors including the importance of a consistent contact with the young horse and stretching.
