Galway Symposium - Part 3

Part 3: The riders work on a circle, transitioning between medium and working canter with a focus on using the inside hip to communicate with the inside hind leg of the horse, and maintaining the balance with the outside rein. Christopher talks with the riders about maintaining a contact even while asking the horse to stretch down, using a useful analogy of leading the horse's nose to the floor with a bucket. He explains the turning exercises and working with the inside hind, are laying the foundation of bringing the horse's energy over his back to connect with his neck, and work on more collection at higher levels. Christopher shares why he removes on rider's martingale and points out how her horse relaxes into the contact better without it, then sets the riders back to canter work.
