Part 1: Phillip explains that he likes to make sure the horse is reading the jump and backing off, which allows the rider to keep the rein soft. As the riders come into the fences Phillip encourages them to make their turns, set the horses up square and then get quieter and leave them to answer the question without too much interference. The goal of this is to increase the horse's rideability. The horse's visibly improve and begin to look and answer the questions, the more the riders are quiet and create opportunities for them.
