Daniel describes how he handles a horse that gets tense when he starts to collect them. He checks his transitions within the gait in the canter in both directions before working on the half pirouettes. They do quarter pirouettes on a square, preparing him and keeping him relaxed. After a stretching break at the canter they go on to the flying changes. When they get to the twos he shows some tension and Daniel calmly works through this, preserving the quality of the canter.
