Part 2: Chrissa comes back to trot and allows the horse to stretch. She explains that this tests if her canter work was correct by making sure he still trusts the contact and will swing through and come down onto the hand softly. She repeats this test at the walk, making sure the hind legs still come under and the horse relaxes and reaches the nose forward when she gives the rein. Concluding the session, Chrissa explains the goal for her young horse over the next year will be to carry more weight behind, free the shoulders up and get more balanced uphill.
