Jan discusses with the rider that they have to deal with the anticipation of the horse for piaffe when they do passage. After some trot work they do passage down centerline, concentrating on keeping the rhythm. They alternate with half pass from the corner, making sure to start with the shoulders not the haunches. On the next line of passage, Jan asks him to keep the horse in front of his leg. As they work on the cadence in the passage they get better and better steps. Jan has him do passage on a small circle around him keeping the passage small. Jan talks about where this horse is in his training and why they may be having some difficulties in the piaffe and passage.
