Alfredo Hernandez watches this pair warm up and then evaluates what they need to work on in the lesson. He points out that they need to work the front and back end in the piaffe and passage, and that only working the hind end forces them on to the forehand. Alfredo helps from the ground encouraging the horse to lift his front legs. We get to see a remarkable improvement in the passage as they continue in their work. When Alfredo gives the rider his longer whip, she is able to produce the steps without help from the ground. Alfredo is very specific on when he wants her to use the whip to avoid confusing the horse.
